This position is located in Amsterdam, Netherlands office.

Job Responsibilities

The European Asset Management role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities covering the entire project lifecycle, from onboarding and executing business plan initiatives to eventual exit strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus primarily on managing assets located across Europe, with opportunities for expanded exposure and growth to drive asset management initiatives and eventually oversee a dedicated portfolio.
  • Travel across Europe to visit portfolio properties and engage with company managers, property developers, and brokers.
  • Develop cash flow models for new expansions, sales, lease extensions, and new building developments.
  • Conduct proactive reviews of tenant company financials, perform business sector analyses, engage with tenant management teams, and present findings to W. P. Carey management.
  • Support Research and Development (R&D) projects by analyzing portfolio sectors and building specifics, and preparing presentations for senior management review.
  • Stay informed about lease extension options, tenant rights to renew, expansion possibilities, rent review clauses, default scenarios, and liaise with legal counsel as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Property Management team on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
  • Analyze third-party senior loans for potential payoffs, negotiate repayment terms at a discount to par value, and discuss loan extensions with lenders.
  • Contribute to a team focused on identifying value creation opportunities, preparing detailed memoranda, and presenting recommendations to senior management.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for cash flow modeling.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in real estate and financial underwriting.
  • Self-motivated individual with high levels of enthusiasm and strong teamwork abilities.
  • Desired traits include an entrepreneurial spirit, independent drive, creativity, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written English communication skills.
  • Proficiency in at least one language other than English is desirable (multiple European languages preferred).
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Excel expertise for cash flow modeling.
  • 2-5 years of experience in real estate and financial analysis.
  • Self-starter with enthusiasm and a strong team orientation.
  • Desired attributes include entrepreneurial spirit, independent drive, creativity, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in written English.
  • Proficiency in one or more European languages is advantageous but not required.
  • Openness to travel.
